Haldwani: Nainital Police has busted an international cybercrime syndicate allegedly involved in transactions worth over Rs 5 crore through mule bank accounts and unauthorized apps. Six accused, including the alleged kingpin, have been arrested, while two others are absconding. Two juveniles have also been taken into protective custody.<\/p>\n
The operation was carried out under Operation Hotspot by Mukhani Police, SOG and the Cyber Cell. A raid at a house in Lakshman Vihar Colony led to the arrests.<\/p>\n
According to police, alleged kingpin Rahul Yadav, a resident of Indore, purchased USDT using cash and sold it through an unauthorized app operated via Telegram. The network allegedly handled transactions worth around Rs 4-5 lakh daily.<\/p>\n
Police said the gang also obtained bank accounts, ATM cards, passbooks and chequebooks from locals by offering commissions and used them for illegal transactions.<\/p>\n
Cash, a laptop, iPad, 11 mobile phones, 24 ATM\/debit cards, SIM cards, chequebooks, passbooks and bank slips were recovered.<\/p>\n
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IT Act and BNS. Police are searching for the two absconding accused and have urged people not to share their bank accounts or banking documents for commissions. Cybercrime can be reported on 1930.<\/p>\n
