Preparations are in full swing to promote electric vehicles (EVs) in Dehradun by setting up charging stations. A discussion program on RFPs (Requests for Proposals) and outreach was held today at Madhuban Hotel, Rajpur Road. The event saw participation from 12 companies offline and 3 companies online.

For the first time, a “zero investment model” has been implemented in the district, under which EV charging stations will be established in the Municipal Corporation area without any initial investment from companies. District Magistrate Savin Bansal addressed the queries of company representatives present both in-person and virtually. He encouraged all companies to participate wholeheartedly, assuring them that the district administration would provide necessary site approvals and resolve any administrative hurdles. He also emphasized that companies would have the freedom to set their own rates for the charging stations.

The District Magistrate thanked the participating companies and assured full cooperation from the administration. During the event, representatives shared their suggestions to improve the e-tender for setting up EV charging points in the Dehradun area. All participating firms expressed interest in collaborating with the Municipal Corporation under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

Companies such as Ecoplus Energy India Ltd., Okaya Power Group, Stimulus Advertising Inc., EESL, Reliance Jio BP, Modern Electric Company, Sahana System Limited, Static, Volti, Tata Power, and Gulf Oil participated in the outreach meet. Additionally, three companies joined virtually.

District Magistrate Bansal highlighted the large influx of religious, adventure, and holiday tourists in the state, noting the immense potential for startups in the EV sector. He addressed concerns from stakeholders and gathered suggestions for improving the process. Proposed locations for the EV charging stations include ISBT Road-Rispanapul near Vidhan Sabha, Gandhi Park, Mall of Dehradun, Pacific Hills Rajpur Road, Ajabpur flyover, Ballupur flyover, and more.
