Union Minister Manohar Lal Reviews Preparations for Swachhata Hi Seva 2026
New Delhi: Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Manohar Lal on Thursday reviewed preparations for Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026 with senior officials from States and Union Territories.
The nationwide campaign will run from September 17 to October 17, 2026, under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat.” It will focus on cleanliness of public places, Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs), citizen participation, sanitation workers’ welfare and Waste-to-Wealth initiatives.
Manohar Lal urged citizens to begin the campaign from their homes on September 17 and called for nationwide “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” Shramdaan ahead of October 1, with participation from youth, sportspersons and public representatives.
Special cleanliness drives will also be held on September 25 and October 2 (Swachh Bharat Diwas), along with awareness programmes on solid waste management and tree plantation.
States and UTs were urged to ensure wide Jan Bhagidari, measurable cleanliness outcomes and sustained efforts beyond the month-long campaign.
