Dehradun: A five-member SIT headed by SP Rural Jaya Baluni has been formed to investigate alleged fake certificates used to secure MBBS admissions under the Freedom Fighter Dependent quota in Uttarakhand.

The SIT has questioned revenue department patwaris and examined records at the SDM office. The investigation will focus on certificate issuance, verification and the alleged use of forged documents.

Four candidates—Pari, Khushi, Swati and Tripti—had their certificates and MBBS admissions cancelled after an investigation reportedly found that they had used the same freedom fighter identity card. Two FIRs have been registered at Raipur and Clement Town police stations, naming five women as accused.

The SIT has sought original documents and previous investigation records to establish how the alleged fraud occurred and determine responsibility.

The case was initially raised by Pradeep Bahuguna, who recently submitted a list of around 370 suspected beneficiaries to Health Minister Subodh Uniyal, seeking a separate investigation.
