Uttarakhand Media Delegation Visits NTPC Korba and BALCO
Dehradun: A Uttarakhand media delegation visited NTPC Korba and Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) on Wednesday as part of a five-day Study and Media Exposure Tour organised by PIB Dehradun.
During the visit, journalists learned about power generation, modern technology, industrial safety and environmental conservation.
NTPC officials informed the delegation that the company currently has a power generation capacity of around 91 GW, with plans to increase it to 150 GW by 2037 and 240 GW by 2047.
NTPC Korba’s 2,600 MW plant recorded a PLF of 87.71% in FY 2025-26, the highest among NTPC stations for the sixth consecutive year. The plant has also planted over 4.5 lakh saplings in the rehabilitated Charpara Ash Dyke area and utilised 60.71 lakh metric tonnes of ash during the year.
The delegation also visited BALCO to understand aluminium production, technological advancements and workplace safety. Earlier, journalists attended an interaction programme at SECL Headquarters in Bilaspur.
PIB Dehradun Assistant Director Sanjeev Sundriyal said the tour aims to provide journalists with first-hand exposure to major development projects and government initiatives.
