Swine Flu Cases in Uttarakhand Reach 40, Five Deaths Reported
Dehradun: Uttarakhand has reported 40 swine flu cases so far, including five deaths, prompting the Health Department to step up precautionary measures. Of the total cases, 28 were reported from Dehradun. Meanwhile, 27 patients have recovered and been discharged, while others are undergoing treatment.
Officials said all five deceased patients had co-morbidities or underlying health conditions.
Hospitals have been directed to identify isolation beds and ensure adequate stocks of medicines, masks, sanitizers and PPE kits. The department has also issued preventive guidelines to hospitals and the public.
Health officials said most cases are mild and there is no need to panic. However, elderly people, children, pregnant women and those with underlying illnesses have been advised to remain extra cautious.
Dehradun CMO Dr. Manoj Sharma urged people to follow precautions such as wearing masks in crowded places, maintaining hand hygiene and staying home when experiencing flu-like symptoms.
The Health Department has appealed to people to stay alert and avoid rumours or unnecessary panic.
