River Festival Marks Resolution for River Cleanliness
Haridwar: Marking the completion of four years in office, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami led a symbolic and spiritual initiative at Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar, by offering prayers to Mother Ganga and calling for collective action to protect and preserve rivers.
Addressing the public during the River Festival program, CM Dhami emphasized that rivers are more than just water bodies—they are vital lifelines that have sustained India’s social, religious, and economic fabric for centuries. He urged citizens to respect rivers as they would a mother, underlining the importance of river conservation in the fight against global warming.
In a strong message of environmental commitment, the Chief Minister, joined by devotees and dignitaries, took a public pledge to never pollute rivers and to contribute actively to maintaining their cleanliness and purity.
The event at Brahmakund, Har Ki Pauri, was marked by Vedic rituals and Ganga Aarti conducted by Acharya Amit Shastri. The Chief Minister’s arrival was ceremoniously welcomed by Shri Ganga Sabha President Nitin Gautam, Sabhapati Krishan Kumar Sharma, Reception Minister Siddharth Chakrapani, and other local leaders.
Prominent attendees included former CM Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Rajya Sabha MP Kalpana Saini, MLAs Madan Kaushik and Adesh Chauhan, Vice-Chairman of the State Disaster Management Authority Vinay Ruhela, District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, SSP Pramendra Singh Dobal, and a large number of saints, devotees, and dignitaries.
The River Festival served not only as a celebration of faith but also as a clarion call for environmental awareness and collective responsibility.
