Dehradun: To reduce growing traffic congestion and parking problems, the Uttarakhand government has started planning major underground parking projects in the city. A review meeting was held at the Secretariat on the directions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Under the proposal, an underground parking facility for around 390 vehicles will be built between Parade Ground and Gandhi Park at an estimated cost of ₹60 crore. The project is expected to ease roadside parking and traffic pressure on Rajpur Road, Subhash Road and nearby areas.

Officials were directed to prepare a traffic management plan to avoid disruption during construction. Another proposed underground parking project near the Secretariat, costing around ₹68 crore, will provide space for 189 vehicles.

The government said both projects will be developed with a focus on modern urban planning and environmental balance.
