A meeting of the State Cooperative Development Committee was held today under Chief Secretary Smt. Radha Raturi at the Secretariat, focusing on strengthening cooperatives, expanding millet cultivation, and boosting local produce.

As part of the "Vocal for Local" initiative, she directed the Cooperative Department to finalize an MoU with the Army and SSB for the supply of food grains, vegetables, milk, and meat, ensuring better market access for local farmers.

To promote agriculture in border areas, District Magistrates (DMs) were instructed to expand millet cultivation on vacant land and work on MSP (Minimum Support Price) for Jhangora, similar to Mandua.

Additionally, a time-bound target was set for forming 601 new cooperative societies (MPACS, dairy, and fisheries) across the state.

For the International Cooperative Year 2025, Smt. Raturi emphasized grassroots participation in conferences, exhibitions, and cultural programs to promote the cooperative movement.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Dr. B V R C Purushottam, Additional Secretary Smt. Sonika, She. Manuj Goyal, along with officials from the Cooperative, Finance, and Food and Supply Departments, and all District Magistrates.
