Dehradun: A massive ₹92 crore fraud has come to light in Uttarakhand involving the Loni Urban Multi-State Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society (LUCC). The society allegedly opened 35 branches in the state without proper authorization, luring investors with promises of doubling their money, and then vanished with the funds.

So far, 15 FIRs have been filed across various districts of Uttarakhand, and 20 people have been arrested in connection with the case. Taking serious note of the matter, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has recommended a CBI investigation and sent a formal request to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to Garhwal IG Rajeev Swaroop, LUCC is also facing cases in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The Uttarakhand operations were managed by Urmila and Jagmohan Bisht, while the main accused, Sameer Agarwal, is currently in Dubai.

Sameer Agarwal reportedly established six such cooperative societies operating in different states, scamming investors across a wide network including UP, MP, Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Punjab.

The state government has assured that justice will be delivered to all victims and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
