Uttarakhand to Conduct Earthquake Mock Drill on 15th November

Dehradun: Under the directives of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, a state-level earthquake mock drill will be conducted on 15th November across all 13 districts of Uttarakhand. The USDMA has already begun preparations for the exercise.

Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman stated that a tabletop exercise will be held on 12th November, followed by the mock drill on 15th November, which will test coordination among departments, resource availability, and relief arrangements.

He added that the state is seismically sensitive, making preparedness at the community level essential. USDMA has also developed the ‘Bhoodev App’, which will send alerts on mobile phones for earthquakes with a magnitude above 5.

The exercise will evaluate rescue operations, relief camps, warning systems, and will also include nighttime drills to assess district-level preparedness.
