Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday said the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission Rural (VB-G RAM G Act) marks a major shift in rural employment policy and will help make villages self-reliant. Speaking at the Secretariat, he said the Act goes beyond MGNREGA by restructuring the entire rural employment framework.

He said the scheme raises guaranteed employment from 100 to 125 days, mandates unemployment allowance if work is not provided within 15 days, ensures weekly wage payments and fixes accountability. Transparency will be ensured through biometric attendance, geo-tagging and social audits.

To safeguard farmers, work can be paused for up to 60 days during sowing and harvesting seasons. Gram Sabhas and Panchayats have been empowered to identify works, with at least 50% projects implemented locally.

The Act focuses on water conservation, rural infrastructure and livelihood creation. Dhami said Himalayan states like Uttarakhand will receive 90% central funding, accelerating rural development.
