Uttarakhand Police Conducts Cyber Awareness Drive for 1.75 Lakh Students

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Police organised a statewide virtual cyber awareness programme, connecting with around 1.75 lakh students from over 1,100 government schools across the state.

Held under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s digital safety message and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s “Yuva Vidyarthi Samvad” initiative, the programme was led by DGP Deepam Seth from the ICT Virtual Classroom Studio in Dehradun.

The DGP interacted with students on online fraud, social media safety, hacking, AI, cyberbullying and cybercrime complaints. He urged students to avoid suspicious links, verify information before forwarding it and use technology responsibly.

AI, Deepfake and Digital Arrest Discussed

IGP Cyber Nilesh Anand Bharne, SSP STF Ajay Singh and ASP Cyber Shantanu Parasur also conducted sessions on AI, deepfakes, digital arrest scams, online harassment, sextortion, fake profiles and online gaming.

Students were advised to report financial cyber fraud immediately by calling 1930 or filing a complaint through the national cybercrime portal.

Regular Awareness Programmes in Schools

Responding to students’ interest, DGP Seth directed that regular awareness programmes be conducted in government schools on cyber security, drug awareness and road safety through state and district-level virtual sessions.
