Uttarakhand to Get 1,234 MW of Power for 25 Years as UERC Approves Adani Deal
Dehradun: Uttarakhand is set to receive 1,234 MW of electricity for the next 25 years after the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) approved the power purchase agreement between Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) and Adani Power Limited at a tariff of ₹5.746 per unit.
The power supply is expected to begin in the financial year 2030-31, helping the state meet its growing electricity demand and reduce dependence on expensive power purchases from the energy exchange.
Adani Power emerged as the lowest bidder among three companies, quoting ₹5.746 per unit, compared to ₹6.237 by MB Power and ₹6.750 by Lalitpur Power Generation Company.
The electricity will be generated from a proposed 1,320 MW greenfield thermal power plant using coal allocated to Uttarakhand under the Centre’s SHAKTI policy.
With the commission’s approval, the way is now clear for UPCL and Adani Power to sign the formal agreement, ensuring long-term power availability for the state.
