Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the All India Forest Sports Competition 2025 at Maharana Pratap Sports College, Raipur, saying that “Uttarakhand is leading the nation in sports and environmental conservation.”

The event features 3,390 athletes from 42 teams, including over 700 women. Dhami said sports build fitness, discipline, and teamwork.

He announced that Uttarakhand is setting up 23 sports academies, a State Sports University, and a Women’s Sports College, with top athletes receiving up to ₹50 lakh and ‘out-of-turn’ appointments.

Highlighting the ‘Green Games’ and the creation of a ‘Khel Van’ with 1,600 Rudraksha trees named after medalists, the CM urged players to plant trees under PM Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign.

Dhami said Uttarakhand is now a symbol of sporting spirit and green awareness for the nation.
