Torrential rains have wreaked havoc in Chamoli district, causing significant damage and widespread disruption. A cloudburst in Nalgaon and Pantigaon on the Karnaprayag-Gwaldam National Highway resulted in heavy debris falling over a 200-meter stretch of the highway. Additionally, debris inundated the electricity substation in Pantigaon.

However, there were no reported casualties, the cloudburst led to the closure of the highway at multiple points, including Nalgaon, Amsaud, Pantigaon, and Harmani. In Gopeshwar, two vehicles were buried under debris following a landslide in the Subhash Nagar area.

The highway blockages due to the heavy rainfall have completely disrupted movement throughout the district. The debris from the cloudburst near Narayanbagh`s Panty Vidyut substation covered the facility and pushed transformers onto the highway.

The relentless rainfall has created an atmosphere of panic among residents, further compounding their difficulties.
