Dehradun: Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease (HFMD) is rapidly spreading among children in Dehradun. At Doon Medical College Hospital, children aged 5 to 15 are visiting the pediatric OPD daily with symptoms of the infection.

Pediatric experts warn that the disease is highly contagious, particularly among school-going children. Parents are advised not to send infected children to school for at least 5–7 days to prevent further spread and to ensure children drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.

The infection typically causes high fever, painful sores on the hands, feet, and inside the mouth, and can make children reluctant to eat or drink. Doctors emphasize that while the disease is concerning, it is manageable with proper care and urge parents to consult a pediatrician immediately if any symptoms appear.
