Cases Filed for Allegedly Setting Forest Fires

The forest department has registered eight cases against unknown persons for allegedly setting fires in the forest. This brings the total number of cases to 434, which includes 65 known and 369 unknown cases. Additionally, only one forest fire incident has been reported in the Terai Western Forest Division. According to forest department officials, the recent rains in various parts of the state have provided relief from forest fire incidents.

Only one forest fire incident in the state has affected more than one hectare of forest area. According to a report released by Additional Chief Conservator of Forests Nishant Verma, there have been 1,135 forest fire incidents in the state so far, affecting more than 1,546 hectares of forest area.
