An online system is being developed to collect green cess from vehicles entering Uttarakhand from other states. The Transport Department has invited private IT companies to create this system.

A meeting about this new system will be held at the Transport Headquarters on July 12. The plan is to use NPR cameras installed at state borders to record every vehicle entering Uttarakhand.

The detailed plan for this system will be finalized in the July 12 meeting. Interested companies have until July 26 to apply. Interestingly, the green cess was already implemented on February 9, but no solid system has been in place to collect it.

The state expects to earn between Rs 40 to 50 crore each year from the green cess.
