An elaborate healthcare arrangement awaits chardham yatris in Uttarakhand on pilgrimage route to monitor health parameters of visiting devotees.

Medical teams deployed by state health department conducted more than 46 thousand health check-ups and OPD facilities provided separately to more than ten thousand pilgrims on yatra route so far. There were two instances of emergency airlift and 35 pilgrims has been referred to Higher Medical Center through ambulance.

The Uttarakhand health department is engaged in providing better health facilities this time and continuously monitoring the health services offered to pilgrims.

State Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat informed that more than one lakh pilgrims have visited Gangotri-Yamunotri while the number of pilgrims reaching Badri-Kedar Dham has crossed 1.25 lakh.

As a result, the department has so far conducted health check-up of more than 46 thousand passengers above 55 years, while OPD services given to 10,385 devotees and emergency medical service to 661 passengers by various medical units established on the yatra routes.

Dr. Rawat said that there are 48 ​​permanent and 23 temporary medical units have been set up on yatra route manned by 29 specialist doctors and 182 medical officers.

ECG, oxygen level and blood pressure monitored through 95 POCT devices made available on the yatra routes of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.

Apart from this, 272 paramedical staff have been deployed, including 182 staff nurses and 90 pharmacists. A total of 200 ambulances including 96 departmental ambulances and 77 emergency service 108 ambulances as well as advance life support ambulances and basic life support ambulances have been deployed for the Char Dham Yatra. To deal with emergency, 11 blood banks and 2 blood collection centers are also functional on the yatra routes. Government Medical College Srinagar, Dehradun and AIIMS Rishikesh have been put on alert mode to deal with any emergency.
