Haridwar: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami participated as the chief guest in a workshop on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) held at Dev Sanskriti University on Saturday. The event was jointly organized by the Higher Education Department and Dev Sanskriti University.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is progressing toward becoming a developed nation by 2047. In this direction, Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code. He emphasized that the UCC is not against any religion, sect, or community but is a legal step to eliminate social evils and establish equality and harmony among all citizens.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the implementation of UCC marks the beginning of a new chapter in women’s empowerment in the state. Now, women will no longer face discrimination in matters of inheritance or property rights. He also pointed out that the UCC includes provisions for the registration of live-in relationships to ensure social responsibility.

He appealed to the residents of the state to ensure registration under the UCC. The Chief Minister also addressed certain rumors, clarifying that the UCC does not contain any provision that would grant a domicile certificate of Uttarakhand to an outsider upon registration. Such claims are completely misleading and false.
