Work On Snow Leopard Conservation Centre Begins At Uttarkashi

Construction has resumed on the nation`s inaugural Snow Leopard Conservation Centre after a prolonged pause, marking a significant step forward for wildlife preservation efforts.

Situated in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, the development is underway near the renowned Gangotri shrine, specifically at the village of Lanka. The proposed center, envisioned as far back as 2020, has finally initiated its site development phase.

The Rural Construction department of the state government has been entrusted with the task of erecting the center, a process estimated to span three years at a cost of Rs 6.10 crores.

This initiative underscores the government`s commitment to safeguarding the endangered snow leopard population while enhancing awareness and conservation efforts.
