Dehradun Engineering Student Turns Cyber Fraudster, Arrested by STF

The Uttarakhand STF has arrested an engineering student who was running a fake job website to scam unemployed youth across the country. The accused, Kripal Sharma, hails from Siliguri (West Bengal) and was studying at an engineering college in Premnagar, Dehradun.

After scoring 90 percentile in the 2024 JEE Mains, Kripal secured admission in Computer Science. However, in an attempt to fund his lavish lifestyle, he turned to online fraud. Through fake job websites, he was scamming job seekers and earning around ₹1.5 lakh per month.

After receiving multiple complaints, the STF used technical surveillance to track and arrest him. The police are now investigating whether he was operating alone or was part of a larger cybercrime network.

The STF has urged people to be cautious and avoid making payments on unverified job websites.
