As the summer sun blazes overhead, adventure enthusiasts are flocking to Rishikesh and its neighboring areas, eager to experience the thrill of rafting on the Ganga River. The weekends see an even higher surge of tourists, drawn by the promise of excitement and cool river splashes.

On a recent Saturday, around 1,500 people embraced the exhilarating rafting adventure on the Ganga, with numbers soaring to 5,000 the previous week. Popular spots like Muni-ki-Reti, Swarg Ashram, Tapovan, and Shivpuri are teeming with rafters, all eager to conquer the river’s rapids.

Rafting operators report a significant uptick in adventure seekers this summer, leading to a boom in job opportunities for locals. An estimated 600 rafts are currently navigating the waters of the Kaudiyala and Muni-ki-Reti eco-tourism zones, which span the districts of Pauri, Tehri, and Dehradun.

Authorities stress the importance of regular inspections to ensure that rafting operators and guides adhere to stringent safety standards. With the inherent risks of adventure sports, maintaining rigorous safety measures is crucial.

However, the weekend rush has its downsides, with tourists experiencing traffic delays at Muni-ki-Reti and Tapovan, making access to rafting sites a bit of a challenge. Despite these minor setbacks, the lure of rafting on the Ganga continues to draw crowds, making this summer one of the most thrilling seasons yet.
