To promote rural employment, increase farmers` income, and encourage clean energy, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has directed the coordinated efforts of the Drinking Water, Animal Husbandry, UREDA, Dairy, and Agriculture departments under the Gobar-Dhan Scheme.

A 400 kg per day capacity biogas plant will be established in Srinagar, which will also produce organic fertilizer and bio-paint, while a 1,000 kg per day capacity bio-CNG plant will be set up in Rudrapur. For these plants, cow dung will be purchased from farmers at the rate of ₹2 per kg.

The Chief Secretary has instructed the effective implementation of 2 cubic meter capacity domestic biogas plants and 25-50 cubic meter capacity group-based plants to promote rural employment and energy production in the region.
