Uttarakhand is set to create a disaster management framework specifically designed for its unique geographical and disaster-prone conditions. Chief Secretary Radha Raturi stressed the importance of including inputs from NGOs, civil society, and experts to make the framework comprehensive.

Uttarakhand`s Chief Secretary announced key measures including prioritizing insurance schemes for disaster-affected communities, training 10 lakh women as "Disaster Sakhis," and integrating disaster management into school curricula. Former soldiers will be trained for emergencies, while lightweight, disaster-resilient construction will be prioritized. A comprehensive rural disaster risk assessment will also be conducted, supported by dynamic data management.

Uttarakhand will become the first state to activate the Incident Response System (IRS) at state, district, tehsil, and panchayat levels, showcasing its leadership in disaster preparedness.

These initiatives aim to strengthen disaster management and ensure active community involvement across the state.
