Uttarakhand Leads the Way: A Vision of Growth, Culture, and Youth Power
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while addressing the closing ceremony of the fourth edition of Oho Hill Yatra – “Rajat se Swarn ki Ore”, shared the impressive strides made by Uttarakhand in the fields of employment, development, cultural preservation, and youth empowerment. The event took place at Mukhya Sevak Sadan and witnessed participation from students, parents, teachers, and officials from across the state.
Highlighting a major achievement, CM Dhami announced that Uttarakhand has reduced its unemployment rate by a record 4.4%, surpassing the national average. He attributed this success to policies like One District, Two Products, which are promoting traditional local goods through initiatives like the House of Himalayas brand and boosting grassroots-level livelihood opportunities.
He emphasized that schemes such as the State Millet Mission, Farm Machinery Bank, Apple Mission, New Tourism and Film Policies, Home Stay, Wed in Uttarakhand, and Saur Swarojgar Yojna are strengthening the rural economy and encouraging sustainable development. These initiatives, he said, are part of the state’s commitment to “Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi” – development with heritage.
The CM proudly noted Uttarakhand’s top position in NITI Aayog’s Sustainable Development Goals Index for 2023-24. The state also earned a spot in the Achievers category for Ease of Doing Business and Leaders in the Startup Ranking. A Rs 200 crore venture fund has been set up to support innovation and startups, with a focus on transforming youth from job seekers into job creators.
CM Dhami also underscored the success of the state’s strict anti-copying law, which has helped over 22,000 youth secure government jobs in the past three years. “We’ve implemented tough reforms—be it the Uniform Civil Code, laws against religious conversion, or action against illegal activities like land, love, and spit jihad. We have not hesitated to act against corruption either,” he said.
He also acknowledged the boost given to spiritual and heritage tourism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, with renewed focus on Adi Kailash and the Winter Yatra. Looking ahead, the CM stated that Uttarakhand has a significant responsibility to organize the grand Nanda Devi Yatra in 2026 and Kumbh Mela in 2027.
Calling upon the youth and citizens of Uttarakhand, CM Dhami said, “As we celebrate the silver jubilee of statehood, we must resolve to make Uttarakhand a model of development, self-reliance, and prosperity. If every citizen contributes with dedication, no force can stop us.”
Praising Oho Radio for its role in inspiring students through the Hill Yatra initiative, he noted its importance in connecting the youth with knowledge, culture, and a vision for the future.
The ceremony concluded with enthusiastic participation from school students, parents, teachers, and officials including Director General of Information Shri Banshidhar Tiwari and SOA Director Shri Ravi Bhatnagar.
