CM Dhami Calls One Nation One Election a Game-Changer
Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has called One Nation One Election a revolutionary reform aimed at strengthening Indian democracy. Speaking at the Prabuddh Jan Sammelan organized by the Swarnim Devbhoomi Foundation in Dehradun, CM Dhami emphasized the need for unity to implement this nationwide electoral reform.
He stated that frequent elections disrupt development work and place a heavy burden on resources, as officials and teachers are frequently diverted from their duties for election responsibilities. “Elections held simultaneously will save time, money, and improve governance,” Dhami said, citing a NITI Aayog report that estimates savings of up to ₹12,000 crore.
The Chief Minister added that One Nation One Election is not just an administrative change but a step toward a more inclusive and efficient democracy. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s leadership, highlighting key reforms like the abrogation of Article 370, GST, and the implementation of UCC in Uttarakhand.
BJP`s National Incharge for the initiative, Sunil Bansal, lauded Uttarakhand for leading the way with UCC and stressed the need for public awareness to support the move.
The event was attended by BJP leaders, Padma awardees, intellectuals, ex-servicemen, and saints. CM Dhami expressed confidence that with public support and political will, One Nation One Election will soon become a reality in India.
