Dehradun: A special free health camp was held in Dehradun on Tuesday for journalists and their families, under the direction of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami. Jointly organized by the Department of Health and the Department of Information & Public Relations, the camp catered to over 350 media professionals.

Hosted at the Directorate of Information on Ring Road, the initiative addressed the health needs of journalists, who often lack time for regular medical care due to their demanding schedules.

Specialists from Government Doon Medical College—including cardiologists, gynecologists, orthopedists, pediatricians, psychiatrists, ENT, and ophthalmology experts—offered on-the-spot consultations and treatment. Pathology tests, Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID registration, and Vay Vandana Card issuance were also provided.

The camp was inaugurated by Secretary Health Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar and DG Information Shri Bansidhar Tiwari. Both officials emphasized the state government’s commitment to the welfare of journalists under CM Dhami’s leadership.

Many attendees were diagnosed for the first time with conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and vision issues, and were given timely medical care and medicines.

“Media professionals often remain engaged around the clock, making it difficult for them to prioritize their health. This camp ensures they get the care they need, and such efforts will continue,” said CM Dhami in a message.

The initiative marks a key step toward improving health access for the media community in Uttarakhand.
