Uttarakhand Excels in Kanwar Mela Healthcare: 3 Lakh Treated Free
Dehradun/Haridwar:
The Uttarakhand government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, set a new benchmark in healthcare management during the Kanwar Mela 2025. More than 3 lakh devotees received free and prompt medical services during the month-long religious pilgrimage.
Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar stated that despite heavy crowds, limited resources, and weather challenges, no infectious outbreaks or major incidents were reported. He said this successful model will serve as an ideal framework for the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2027.
Effective Use of Technology and Coordination
A total of 35 temporary medical camps and 5 container-based permanent centers were set up along the yatra route. All camps were geo-tagged and equipped with QR codes to help pilgrims locate nearby services.
The state deployed 45 doctors, 69 pharmacists, 58 nurses, 108 ambulances, and kept all district and community health centers on high alert.
Excellent Healthcare on Neelkanth Route
In Pauri district, over 39,000 pilgrims received treatment at 9 medical relief posts. A 24/7 control room was operated at PHC Lakshman Jhula to ensure continuous monitoring and quick response.
Strong Coordination Between Departments
CM Dhami emphasized that the government is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and healthy pilgrimage experience. The health department’s performance during the Kanwar Mela stands as a model of service, innovation, and discipline.
