Relief and Rescue Operations Continue in Kedar Valley
Rescue and relief operations continue to safely evacuate pilgrims and locals stranded in Kedar Valley due to road damage caused by heavy rains. Efforts are being made at all levels to ensure the safety of everyone affected.
Under the supervision of the District Magistrate, departments are actively working to provide food and rescue stranded individuals in the valley.
District Supply Officer K.S. Kohli reported that since Thursday morning food packets, drinking water, and other essentials have been distributed at key points along the Yatra route. By Friday evening around 18,000 food packets and 35,000 water bottles had been provided at Kedarnath, Lincholi, Bhimbali, Sonprayag, Shersi, Guptkashi, Chaamasi, and other locations.
Additionally, food is being supplied with the help of GMVN (Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam) and local traders, with support from BKTC (Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee) and public representatives.
Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vimal Gusain stated that medical care has been provided to 286 people in Sonprayag, Gaurikund, and Shersi. By Friday afternoon, 582 people had been airlifted to safety using helicopter services, while more than 1,500 people were manually rescued between Sonprayag and Gaurikund.
