A chlorine gas leak at the 26 MLD STP plant in Lakkarghat, Rishikesh, caused panic on Friday morning. Upon receiving information about the leak, local police, SDRF, and the CBRN rescue team quickly arrived at the site and brought the situation under control.

According to reports, the chlorine cylinder in the plant began leaking suddenly, creating panic among workers and nearby residents. The teams acted promptly to contain the leak. The leaking cylinder was submerged in a water tank using a hydra crane, neutralizing the gas`s impact.

SDRF Inspector Kavindra Sajwan and his team, along with plant staff, played a key role in controlling the gas leak. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.

Following the incident, security inspections and preventive measures have been intensified at the plant. The administration has issued directives to enhance safety and prevent such occurrences in the future.
