Dehradun witnessed a downpour on Wednesday morning within 24-hours of the first spell of unseasonal rains that left many areas waterlogged.

At several places across the city, clogged drains pushed back rainwater on the streets and main thoroughfare. Vasant Vihar, GMS Road, Darshanlal Chowk, Banjarawala, Cross Road, Prince Chowk and almost every part of the city was affected by the rain fury.

“Early morning hours also made it difficult us to wade through water logged streets and main roads to reach workplace,” said a resident of Indiranagar.

Though, water levels receded after rains subsided but it exposed poor pre-monsoon preparednesses of the civic authorities. Frequently made tall claims by the administration to turn Dehradun into a smarter city, under Smart City Mission, fell flat just by a very short wet spell.
