Don’t venture into Tons and Yamuna riverbeds: UJVNL
Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. (UJVNL) made a public appeal that riverbeds of Tons and Yamuna rivers shall remain out of bounds for common people including vehicles and livestock during monsoon.
UJVNL has appealed to the people, living near the banks of Yamuna and Tons, to stay away from riverbeds as they may get flooded anytime with sudden discharge of excess water upstream due to likely onset of monsoon.
“Due to high monsoon activity between June 16 and October 15 in the catchment areas of Ichari dam and Dak Patthar barrage, there may be sudden release of water anytime,” said a statement from UJVNL.
Venturing into riverbeds may prove dangerous for anyone oblivious about the sudden influx of excess water upstream, the statement added.
