In a bid to safeguard religious sanctity and public trust, the Uttarakhand government has launched ‘Operation Kaalnemi’, targeting imposters posing as saints to deceive people under the guise of Sanatan Dharma. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has ordered strict action against such individuals and directed officials to remain vigilant.

Sharing the update on X (formerly Twitter), CM Dhami said those misusing religion to mislead and exploit people, especially women, will face stern consequences. He compared these fraudsters to Kaalnemi, a demon from the Ramayana who disguised himself as a sage to mislead Lord Hanuman.

What is Operation Kaalnemi?

The campaign is named after the demon Kaalnemi, who attempted to deceive Hanuman during his mission to save Lakshman. In the same spirit, the operation aims to expose and take action against individuals misusing religious attire and symbols for personal gain.
