Dehradun: To make the Char Dham Yatra smoother, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the launch of regular chartered air services. A shuttle service will operate between Dehradun–Joshimath and Joshimath–Badrinath. Remote areas like Dharchula and Munsyari will also be connected via air routes.

In a meeting with the Civil Aviation Department, CM Dhami emphasized the need to improve air connectivity to remote regions while maintaining the highest safety standards. He also stressed promoting aero sports in the state.

A direct helicopter service will soon start from Gunji to Adi Kailash to boost pilgrimage and tourism. New helipads will be built near Garudchatti (Kedarnath) and Sankri (Uttarkashi).

A flying training school is being established in Pantnagar to train pilots and meet the growing demand in civil aviation. Expansion work of Pantnagar and Dehradun airports is expected to be completed by 2026–28.

To ensure safer air navigation, digital mapping of air routes is being developed in collaboration with ISRO.

This initiative by the state government is set to enhance pilgrimage, tourism, and air access to remote border areas of Uttarakhand.
