Dehradun: To implement Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s vision of “Drug-Free Uttarakhand – 2025”, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) has intensified enforcement. Health Secretary and Commissioner Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar made a surprise inspection at FDA headquarters and directed officials to act in mission mode.

So far, over 450 medical stores and 65 manufacturing units have been raided, with tighter surveillance along the Nepal border. A strict zero-tolerance policy is in place against counterfeit medicines and narcotics.

FDA teams have been told to boost coordination with STF and police, track repeat offenders, and strengthen border surveillance. The department currently has three mobile testing vans, with 10 more arriving soon, while modern equipment at the Dehradun lab will further increase testing capacity.

Dr. Kumar said the next three months will be crucial, with new drug inspectors already speeding up field enforcement.
