Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday inaugurated the Uttarakhand Malta Festival at the Government Garden, Circuit House, Garhi Cantt, and announced the launch of the Malta Mission to promote citrus production in the state. He also said that the Malta Festival will be organised in Delhi to give Uttarakhand’s Malta national recognition.

The Chief Minister said Malta is an important part of Uttarakhand’s identity and horticulture can play a key role in strengthening the state’s economy. He highlighted government initiatives such as crop-based clusters, Minimum Support Price for Malta and Galgal, and subsidies on orchard plantation, micro-irrigation and food processing to increase farmers’ income and create local employment.

Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi said the festival will help connect farmers with new markets and boost production, processing and marketing of local fruits.
