Dehradun: The remote hill region of Kapkot has emerged as a new adventure tourism destination following the successful five-day National Accuracy Paragliding Championship held in Bageshwar district.

Organized from February 5, the event saw 78 pilots from across the country compete, while thousands of locals and tourists gathered to witness colorful paragliders soaring over the hills of Jalekh. The championship was inaugurated by District Magistrate Akanksha Konde and MLA Suresh Gadiya, who termed it a milestone for local tourism and employment.

At the closing ceremony, the District Magistrate herself took a paragliding flight, stating that Kapkot–Bageshwar has now been established as a new adventure tourism destination with future international potential.

Manish Upreti won the championship, followed by Manish Bhandari in second place and Pankaj Kumar in third. The event has highlighted Kapkot’s strong potential for paragliding and other adventure sports, placing the region firmly on India’s adventure tourism map.
