Streamlining traffic flow will be the top most priority of Uttarakhand police administration during Char Dham Yatra which is scheduled to begin from last week of this month.

The state police has started an on spot review of key bottlenecks in Rishikesh city, Muni Ki Reti and Lakshman Jhula, also the gateway to Char Dham Yatra.

The senior police officials reviewed deployment of police officials to ease traffic congestion and contemplated diversion of traffic on weekends except locally registered vehicles. Orders have been issued to rectify pin drop locations on Google maps to reduce incidence of mismatch while navigating to a designated spot.

Adequate requisition of police personnel and ancillary staff to deal with traffic rush during yatra was also reviewed. Special arrangements have been made for temporary parking slots on Char Dham yatra and punitive action against vehicles parked in no parking zones have been suggested to deal with errant motorists.

A review meeting of senior officials to freeze traffic management plan for Char Dham yatra may take place on April 14.

The Char Dham yatra is scheduled to start on April 22 with the opening of Gangotri and Yamunotri dhams. The doors of the Kedarnath temple will open on April 25, while that of Badrinath Temple will open on April 27, 2023.
