Talent Search For Women Cricketers In Hills

The Cricket Authority of Uttarakhand (CAU) has initiated a talent search for women cricketers in the hills, inspired by the recent successful women`s cricket tournament in Pharsani village, Pauri district.

Affiliating with tournaments across districts, CAU aims to offer recognition and opportunities to emerging talents. The move marks a significant step for CAU, known for its T-20 and ODI women’s teams, expanding its reach beyond district units.

The success of the Pharsani tournament, which featured 32 teams, prompted locals to offer cash rewards totaling around Rs 3.5 lakh. The 5-over-a-side format attracted women players aged 14 to 50, showcasing their skills amid relaxed cricket norms to accommodate varying knowledge levels.

Despite rule adjustments, the tournament garnered substantial attendance from nearby villages, highlighting the growing interest in women`s cricket in the region.
