A state-level committee meeting to ensure the standardization and quality of industrial products in Uttarakhand was held today at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi. The meeting emphasized strict compliance with quality control orders issued by the Government of India and discussed revising the Uttarakhand Procurement Policy, 2017 in line with Indian standards.

The Chief Secretary directed government departments to obtain BIS certifications such as IS/ISO 9001 and IS 15700 and to align the state’s building bylaws with Indian standards. She also encouraged the youth to explore opportunities in startups related to standardization, quality assurance, and certification and stressed conducting awareness programs for self-help and consumer groups.

Additionally, instructions were given to install information boards at District Magistrate offices and public places to promote awareness about the BIS CARE APP. The meeting underscored the importance of integrating quality and standardization as key elements in the state’s development initiatives.
