Dehradun: Following the disaster in Tharali, the Uttarakhand government has intensified relief and rescue operations while putting health services on full alert. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to ensure immediate and effective healthcare facilities in the affected areas.

Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that health teams not only provided medical treatment to the injured at the spot but also offered counseling to those traumatized by the incident. He added that additional medical teams and resources would be deployed if required.

At present, the Tharali Community Health Center has 4 medical officers, 6 staff nurses, 1 pharmacist, 1 driver, and an ambulance equipped with life-saving medicines. Additionally, 2 specialist doctors and 2 more 108 ambulances have been deployed from SDH Karnaprayag. An additional medical officer from PHC Dewal has also been stationed in the disaster-hit area.

Six critically injured patients were airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh by helicopter, while over two dozen others received treatment on-site. The Health Secretary emphasized that no laxity would be tolerated in relief and rescue efforts, and all medical units have been instructed to remain on the highest level of alertness.
