Dehradun: Over 25 years, Uttarakhand has significantly improved education despite challenges like difficult terrain and limited resources. Government initiatives and central schemes such as Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, PM Shree, and tribal development programs have expanded schooling to nearly every village.

Nearly all villages now have primary, upper primary, high, and intermediate schools. Gross Enrollment Ratio has risen above the national average, with high school board pass rates improving from 32.6% to 90.8% and intermediate from 61.2% to 83.3%.

Schools now have proper infrastructure, while residential schools, model schools, and 39 Kasturba Gandhi hostels support girls’ education. Scholarships and awards encourage meritorious students, and the Vidya Review Centre monitors learning and teacher performance in real time.
