Chamoli: The three-day Niti Extreme Ultra Run began in the strategically important Niti Valley of Chamoli on Sunday. Organized by the Tourism Department in collaboration with the Indian Army and ITBP, the event has attracted 933 participants from 28 states.

The event was flagged off by Cabinet Minister and district in-charge Bharat Singh Chaudhary, who said the initiative promotes border tourism and supports the Fit India movement while creating new opportunities for local communities.

According to District Tourism Officer Arvind Gaur, the opening day featured a 75-km ultra run and a 42-km ultra run. The event will continue until June 2, with 5-km, 10-km and 21-km races, along with a 30-km MTB Challenge scheduled for the finale.

A cultural evening held in Malari village on Saturday added to the excitement, with folk singer Kishan Mahipal entertaining participants and locals.
