IPSC Girls’ Tennis Tournament Begins at SelaQui International School
Dehradun: The All India IPSC Girls’ Tennis Tournament commenced on Monday at SelaQui International School, Dehradun. The prestigious event, being held from June 1 to June 5, has brought together young tennis players from 13 renowned schools across the country. The tournament will conclude with the final match on June 5.
The tournament was inaugurated by the school’s Bursar, Shishir Srivastava, who encouraged the participants and highlighted how today’s generation enjoys better sports infrastructure, stronger sporting culture, and greater family support, helping them excel in their chosen fields.
During the opening ceremony, the tennis captain of the defending champions, The Daly College, Indore, administered the oath of fair play, sportsmanship, and mutual respect to all participants. In a special message, Headmaster Dr. Dileep Kumar Panda, who was away on an official visit, urged players to strive for excellence both on the tennis court and in life.
School Sports In-Charge Kanwaljeet Singh Dhaliwal emphasized the importance of providing young athletes with competitive platforms to develop their talent. He expressed confidence that several participants would go on to represent the country at national and international levels.
In the opening match, The Daly College, Indore, represented by Reet Arora and Aira Lodi, defeated Welham Girls’ School’s pair of Nandini and Arna by 2-0. In the second match, Genesis Global School, Noida, represented by Sanvi Bhasin and Amara Gupta, secured a 2-0 victory over The Sanskaar Valley School, Bhopal’s duo of Gauri Sharma and Ahana Srivastava to advance to the next round.
Organizers said the tournament is expected to feature several exciting contests over the coming days, showcasing some of the country’s most promising young tennis talents.
