In a decisive move to tackle the alarming rise in forest fires, the state government has unveiled stringent measures against those responsible. Chief Secretary Radha Raturi held a high-level meeting aimed at addressing the pressing issue of forest fires gripping the state.

Instructing Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and district collectors, Raturi left no room for ambiguity, directing them to initiate legal proceedings against individuals found guilty of igniting forest fires. Drawing on provisions within the Indian Penal Code and Forest Act, authorities are poised to wield the full force of the law against offenders.

Urging prompt action, Raturi mandated daily reports on progress to be submitted to higher authorities, underscoring the gravity of the situation. Attendees revealed that while some fires stemmed from human error, others were deliberate acts by anti-social elements, prompting a call for swift identification and prosecution.

Furthermore, Raturi emphasized the provision of essential resources, ensuring water supply to crew stations combating the blazes. With coordination paramount, officials were tasked with fostering seamless cooperation between district administration, police, and the forests department to mount an effective response to forest fires.
