A massive landslide occurred near Rauti bridge, 16 km from Dharchula, in Tanakpur Tawaghat NH at around 8.30 am on Wednesday. A huge rock boulder broke from the hill and fell into the Kali river leaving atmosphere covered with dust.

Amidst the chaos, people ran to save their lives and due to the alertness of people and SSB jawans, a major accident was averted.

Just in front of India`s Rauti Bridge, across the Kali River, is Nepal`s Khati village. There was a massive landslide on Tuesday also at the place where the rock broke. Eye witness accounts confirm that the huge boulder broke and fell in the middle of the Kali river. There was a suspension bridge a few meters below the place where the rock fell but it narrowly escaped damage.
