Uttarakhand Allocates Highest Allowance for Stray Cattle Care

The Uttarakhand government is actively addressing the issue of stray cattle, offering ₹80 per animal per day—the highest allowance in the country—for adoption. Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has directed municipal bodies to monitor stray cattle monthly and ensure their relocation to shelters.

Land has been identified for 36 urban and 26 rural cattle shelters, with construction underway at several locations. The government has allocated ₹10 crore for these projects.

All cattle will be geotagged, and a dashboard and mobile app will soon be launched to track their data, including age and medical details.

Regular inspections will ensure proper fodder, medical care, and security in shelters.

With 20,887 stray cattle currently in the state, the government is taking concrete steps for their care and rehabilitation using modern technology and expanded welfare schemes.
