The Uttarakhand Landslide Mitigation and Management Centre (ULMMC) has prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to address landslides occurring in the rear area of the Khara Hydro Power Project in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The DPR was handed over to the Secretary of Disaster Management and Rehabilitation, Vinod Kumar Suman, on Saturday.

ULMMC scientists conducted comprehensive geological, geophysical, and geotechnical studies in the project area and proposed effective measures for landslide prevention. The center will also undertake continuous monitoring of the project. Operational since 1992, the Khara Hydro Power Project has a capacity of 72 megawatts and is situated in geologically sensitive hills prone to frequent landslides.

Expanding its services, ULMMC will now offer consultancy for DPR preparation, landslide management, hydrological surveys, and other services to various departments at nearly half the market rate. Senior officials, including ULMMC Director Shantanu Sarkar, were present during the submission of the DPR.
